Tips and guidance to look after yourself

Need a little help to stay independent?

Age UK has a range of products and services from trusted partners that can help you to continue doing things for yourself.

As you get older, or if you have a health condition that affects your mobility, everyday things like getting dressed in the morning might become more difficult. Or, without a regular routine, you may forget to take your medication, or plan your meal times.

Being able to look after yourself is just as important now, as not only can it help you stay independent, but by doing things like keeping your feet in good condition, you can also reduce the risk of falls.

In this section, we’ve put together some handy information on things you can do to make these tasks easier for yourself:

  • Personal care - including getting washed, dressed and taking care of your eyes and feet.
  • Shopping - to help you get food and other essential items.
  • Eating and meals - advice on how to get the nutrition you need.
  • Medication - guidance on how to make sure you don’t forget to take your medication.
